Good morning!
It's your Site Assistant! Thanks to Dr. Rosling, I’m on a roll with statistics! As most of us have experienced, health related data is often presented in the static form of graphs, tables, and pie charts. What makes Rosling so riveting is that he dances with his data. As the data moves, he moves, we move, and more importantly our thoughts transition to a new space.
He uses Gapminder. This is an incredible program that allows anyone to view the world’s most important trends:
* Wealth & Health of Nations
* CO2 emissions since 1820
* Is child mortality falling?
* Where is HIV decreasing?
Gapminder also provides resources for teachers and a reservoir of data sets available here
One of the benefits of Gapminder is that it offers a desktop feature that allows you to show animated statistics without internet access.
Did I mention it's also free? Check it out when you have the chance!
Sincerely,
Jacqueline
