Blogs: Commenting Restrictions

Hi HEALers,

I received a couple of inquiries yesterday regarding how to allow visitors of your blog to comment on your posts. Apparently, some students have been attempting to leave comments on other students’ blogs but have been unable to do so due to commenting restrictions. Also, a few questions came up about commenting on the HEAL Home blog.

First, to submit a comment on the HEAL Home blog, go to the end of the particular post you are interested in commenting on and where it reads “Posted by Jacqueline Ashby, Site Assistant at 06:41 0 comments” click on the link “0 comments.”

A box will then appear asking you to “Post a Comment.” Please note that your comment will not appear immediately.

For security purposes, no post is published on the HEAL Home blog until I have read the contents and confirmed it is not spam.

To change the commenting permissions on your blog, log in to your account and click on your blog title.

On the left hand side, a menu should appear. Scroll down and click on “Settings.” Another drop-down menu will appear.

Click on “Post and Comments.” Now, scroll down where it questions, “Who can comment?” There are several options to select from.

The HEAL Home blog allows “Anyone” to comment. However, where it indicates “Comment Moderation" I have selected “Always.”  This means that I am contacted via email that the blog has received a comment. I can then review the comment and determine if I want it published or deleted.

To encourage a greater exchange between your content and readers, you may want to consider modifying your restrictions in terms of who can comment but require that the comment be reviewed by you before it is published on your blog.

Hope you have a great day,

Jacqueline
