Funding Graduate School

Hello HEALers!

I received a great question this morning about funding sources available to students in the HEAL program. In response, I have created a list of recommended sites for you to visit:

First, I'd suggest heading over to SFU’s Financial Aid & Awards and scheduling an appointment with an advisor to learn about the scholarships and grants that are available for SFU graduate students.

SFU’s Graduate Student Society provides grants, funding, and emergency aid for students that qualify.

SFU’s Education Graduate Student Association offers a professional development grant.

The Minerva Foundation has developed a series of scholarships for women enrolled in post-secondary education.

Several professional organizations provide awards or professional development support. If you are a member of a professional organization, such as the BCTF, contact them directly.

You may also want to approach your employer or make an appointment with the Human Resources department to discuss the funding of your advanced degree.

Review your budget with this calculator. You may need to make a few lifestyle changes.

Blue-sky idea: This last option may sound crazy but you may want to explore crowdfunding your tuition. Check out Scolaris or FundRazr for the details. Read the site's fine print and determine if it is an option for you.

Hope these ideas help!

Cheers,

Jacqueline
