Hello HEALers!
An email came out earlier this week regarding student safety on campus from our Safety & Risk Services. I've posted it to our blog in case you missed it:
Reporting crime and suspicious behaviour:
If you encounter any threats to your personal safety, or emergency situations, please call Campus Security’s Emergency line immediately. Campus Security will respond immediately and, if necessary, will ensure police response. If you have non-emergency questions please call your local security desk.

Personal Safety Programs:
There are a number of Personal Safety programs to assist students, faculty and staff on campus. Campus Security offers a 24 hour Safe Walk program where an escort is provided by either a security officer or a Student Campus Safety Member. We also offer a Work Alone safety program for when you’re working after hours; you can contact Campus Security and let them know your location and the time you expect to be finished. For more information on these Campus Security programs and others, please go to http://www.sfu.ca/srs/security/personal-security/sfu-programs.html
For additional information about personal safety while working, studying, living in Residence, or taking public transit, please refer to our “Stay Safe at SFU” Personal Safety Guide which can be found at various locations on all campuses, as well as online at http://www.sfu.ca/srs/security/personal-security/personal-safety-guide.html
In our efforts to provide the best service to our community, we continually review our personal safety programs. Community feedback is important to us, and we will be engaging representatives from around the campus to assist us in this review process. If you any thoughts, ideas or concerns that you would like to share with us please contact me at terry_waterhouse@sfu.ca.
Personal safety is a shared responsibility. Please assist us to keep SFU safe by requesting assistance when you need it, reporting any incidents of concern, and ensuring friends and colleagues are aware by forwarding this message broadly.
