Kintsugi and More!

I hope that you are all doing well! A few weeks ago, I stumbled across the video “Kintsugi: The Art of Embracing Damage.” Kintsugi, as an art form and philosophy, “treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise” (via Wikipedia). The transparency expressed in the mending process results in a beautifully restored piece.

On this note, Bruce shared with me your ideas regarding your final capstone project. I have taken the time to review your summaries and posted below a series of links that will hopefully provide you with additional resources. Many of you have identified areas that you would like to repair. As you move forward with your projects, I encourage you to consider how your idea or approach attempts to HEAL. How will your program acknowledge and carry forward your topic's history? What literature, policies, procedures, and/or methods have been instrumental in disguising the issue you are investigating?

Please contact me if you feel I’ve not addressed your topic or made an error in my links. I hope to see you soon!
